# The national herd at a glance

**Uruguay's holders declared 12,265,269 cattle on 30 June 2025 (11,583,321 beef and 681,948 dairy) and 4,799,066 sheep. On 2024, cattle changed +1.05% and sheep -11.47%.**

## Findings

- **Florida** has the most cattle (1,117,097); Montevideo the fewest (2,736). The five largest departments hold 40.6% of the national herd.
